Biography

Mrs. Nadine Davis proudly serves the students, faculty, staff, parents and the community of Lake Joy Primary School. She works with students in the area of social, emotional and educational support. She provides professional assistance and support to an individual student or small group of students during times of transition, heightened stress, critical change or other situations impeding student success. As a school counselor, she does not provide therapy or long-term counseling during the school day. However, Mrs. Davis is prepared to recognize and respond to student mental health needs and assist students and families seeking assistance by connecting them with community resources. Small groups are offered when appropriate to address the needs of students with similar issues and requires parental permission. Classroom guidance lessons are conducted in response to an invitation from the teacher to address and teach lessons geared to the needs of the students in a specific class. Mrs. Davis assists students in the area of personal body safety through the delivery of the Second Step Child Protection Unit lessons.

As the Student Support Team coordinator (SST), Mrs. Davis collaborates with teachers, school administration, students and parents to offer suggestions concerning interventions and assist with the implementation of intervention plans to address student deficits.

A 504 plan is developed to ensure that a child who has a disability as identified under the law and is attending an elementary or secondary educational institution receives accommodations that will ensure their academic success and access to the learning environment. Mrs. Davis serves as the 504 coordinator and chairs the committee comprised of the student’s parents, teacher(s) and other staff members (when necessary) to determine eligibility and create a 504 accommodation plan when warranted.

Hospital Home Bound (HHB) provides academic instruction to students who are confined either at home or in a health care facility for periods of time that would prevent normal school attendance. Academic instruction is provided based on the certification of need by a licensed physician or licensed psychiatrist who is treating the child. As the Hospital Homebound liaison, Mrs. Davis will provide the application for which the parent and physician must complete prior to submitting the application to the HHB clerk at the Houston County Board of Education office in Perry.

Mrs. Davis coordinates community initiatives such as, Jay’s Hope (Hats 4 Hope) childhood cancer awareness fundraiser, Red Ribbon week, Feed the City food drive and Month of the Military Child.

Mrs. Davis spent many years traveling with her military family prior to moving to GA and beginning her career in education. They were blessed to be assigned in Alexandria Louisiana, Charleston, SC, the Philippines, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Biloxi, MS and moved to Warner Robins in 1993. At which time, she began working toward teacher certification. She earned the degree of Associate of Science from Macon College (now Middle Georgia State University). She also earned the following degrees from Fort Valley State University: the degree of Bachelor of Science in Education - Early Childhood Education, the degree of Master of Science in Education - School Counselor Education and the degree of Educational Specialist - School Counselor Education.  Mrs. Davis began her teaching career at Lindsey Elementary in Aug 1998. With great “joy”, she accepted the position of school counselor at LJPS in July 2009.

Mrs. Davis and her husband, Marcus of more than 41 years are the proud parents of two adult sons, Josiah (Krissy) and Joshua (Megan) and Grandpa and GiGi to Noah Michael Davis. She enjoys spending quality time with her family,  serving at her church, The Assembly, and traveling especially to new destinations.

Mrs. Davis thoroughly enjoys interacting with students, assisting students with issues that negatively affects their academic progress and building lasting relationships with students and their families. She may be reached via telephone @ 478-953-0465 ext. 62467, email: nadine.davis@hcbe.net, or in person by requesting to meet with her in the front office.
